VISITATION: A gathering of friends and family will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL.

CELEBRATION OF VIVIAN’S LIFE SERVICE will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Pulliam Funeral Home with Bro. Dee Wolfe officiating.  Burial will follow next to her husband in Oblong Cemetery.

Vivian Jackson, 88, Oblong, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  She was residing at Newton Rest Haven in Newton, IL.

Vivian was born on February 23, 1927 in Chariton, Iowa and was the daughter of Harold Cleo Grate and Anna (Kline) Grate.  On March 18, 1946 in St. Bernard Parish in the State of Louisiana, she married John Curtis Jackson who preceded her in death on January 21, 1977.

Vivian worked for the telephone company at age 17 and then worked for a dry cleaners; she was a homemaker and came from the big city and became a very proud farm wife.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL.  Vivian enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.

Vivian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Lila Jackson of Oblong, IL; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law Missy and Todd Kessler of Oblong, IL and Julie Jackson of Oblong, IL; two great-grandchildren Tyler Kessler and Roxanne Kessler both of Oblong, IL; brother and sister-in-law Johnny and Dorothy Grate of Missouri; sister Anna Mae and nieces and nephews.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; husband John C. Jackson; sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Larry Lary and a brother and sister-in-law Harlan and Mavis Grate.
